The ET&OL Department has a few certification courses faculty can enroll in. Some of these certifications are needed to teach or develop online course, other courses are meant to help faculty understand the LMS and other supporting software.
Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR)
The APPQMR is Quality Matters' flagship workshop on the QM Rubric and its use in reviewing the design of online and blended courses is intended for a broad audience, including but not limited to faculty, instructional designers, administrators, and adjunct instructors. It is particularly helpful to those new to QM or those considering the adoption of a quality assurance process for online and blended learning. The APPQMR can either be completed online or face-to-face. These courses are facilitated by the Educational Technology and Online Learning Department.

Teaching Online Learning
This fully online course teaches you the best practices of teaching in an online environment. You'll have opportunities to engage in online learning activities as a participant in the online course and receive constructive feedback, while participating in an online learning course as a student. Your experience as an online student is a critical part of learning how to teach online.
This course is not just about learning how to use Canvas the Learning Management System (LMS). Although, you will learn how to use the LMS where your online classroom is held, the goal is to prepare you to teach online and create your first online course, a course that engages and motivates students to learn and succeed!

Creating Exams
The Creating Exams certification is a self-paced course that demonstrates various exam authoring tools. These can be imported into the learning management system to provide automatically graded quizzes and exams. The course focuses on software that is most widely adopted by the institution, Respondus, TestGen, ExamView, and Diploma.

Canvas Certification
The Canvas Instructor Certification course is a self-paced course composed of three tiers, Canvas Basics, Canvas Intermediate, and Canvas Advanced. Each of the tiers covers different aspects of Canvas at varying levels of difficulty. Instructors who complete the entire course are crowned Canvas Champions, and earn a prestigious spot on the Wall of Fame in the ET&OL department.
