elzbieta-newmanEla Newman has taught college-preparatory courses in English and in ESL/EFL as well as college-level English courses since 1993. She taught EFL at two college-preparatory schools in Poland, serving as Head of the English Section at one of them, worked at two community colleges in Washington State, where she taught ESL writing and grammar classes while also coordinating the Family Literacy Program. Later, she taught College Writing Skills, Composition, and World Literature courses at UTB, where she also served as the Director of the Writing Lab.

herman-penaHerman Peña teaches College Reading. He has 14 years of teaching experience at the college level and looks forward to teaching for many years to come. He loves to teach and finds it a blessing to help every student to succeed. He has a Bachelor's degree in Education and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. He also has a Master's degree in Criminal Justice from New Mexico State University.

daniel-perezDaniel J. Pérez is a Brownsville, Texas native. He has taught college-preparatory courses in English and college-level English courses since 2001. He taught at The University of Texas at Brownsville where he also served as Assistant Director of Learning Enrichment, the university's tutoring center. His academic interests include Deconstruction, Absurdism, the writings of James Joyce and Samuel Beckett and the nature and impact of translation.

Boye-Sanchez Boye Obed Sanchez is a native of the Rio Grande Valley. He earned a Bachelor's degree in English and a Master's degree in English and American literature from UTPA-Edinburg. He is currently an English Ph.D. candidate in Modern American Literature at Texas A&M University in College Station, and he teaches Integrated Reading and Writing at Texas Southmost College. One of his favorite quotations is from Walden by the American author Henry David Thoreau: "If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them."

Stanley-S-Nelson Shane Snelson is a native Texan who has been teaching for more than 20 years. He has a Bachelor’s degree in English and History from UT Austin and a Master’s degree in English from Sam Houston State University. He has taught at all levels including 5th, 6th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades as well as overseas in Mexico, China, and South Korea. He most recently completed his Doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction from UTRGV. His dissertation focused on Long-term English Language Learners in the Developmental Classroom.

Jonathan BakerJonathan M. Baker has been in the education field since 2009. He began his career in South Korea where he taught ESL classes for students, staff, and administrators. He later moved on to instructing Korean English teachers in pedagogical classes and working in human resources to recruit and train new teachers. In 2016, he joined TSC as a full-time instructor. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Bethel College and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from the American College of Education. Currently, he is pursuing Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction specializing in Educational Technology at UTRGV.
