Texas Southmost College has announced that instructional programs currently being offered through the UTB/TSC partnership will be retained and will continue when TSC begins operating as a community college in fall 2013.

According to President Tercero, "An extensive review was conducted to confirm the viability of current instructional offerings, including projected market demand through 2018 for the career and technical programs. While all current programs will be continued, the review revealed certain program improvement needs which will be addressed by program leaders and faculty with the full support of the College."

President Tercero further stated, "We are excited that students attending TSC will have the opportunity to pursue a variety of university-transfer and career/technical training opportunities."

Students also will have the opportunity to enter into a career and technical program, which prepares them to enter the workforce within one or two years. This includes programs in accounting and business services, automotive services, building trades, child care development, clinical lab technician, computer information systems, computer web development, computer-aided drafting, criminal justice, drafting, emergency medical technician, heating/air conditioning/refrigeration, legal assisting, medical records and office management, nursing, paralegal studies, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, and sonography.

For students seeking additional preparation prior to enrolling in college-level work, TSC will continue offering a strong college-preparatory program through its developmental education program.

TSC will resume its operations as a comprehensive community college in fall 2013, under the UTB/TSC accreditation status. The College is on schedule to regain its full, separate accreditation by fall 2015.
