The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada awarded Texas Southmost College (TSC) the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for TSC’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).

"TSC continues to demonstrate sound and responsible stewardship of the college’s finances, and we are proud to have received this distinction from the Government Finance Officers Association that recognizes that stewardship,” TSC Board of Trustees Chairwoman Adela Garza said. “We want to thank TSC's Office of Finance and Administration for their hard work and the diligence with which they provided detailed accounting and financial reporting that has allowed TSC to achieve the highest levels of transparency.”

The Certificate of Achievement has been awarded to the individual(s) or department designated by the government as primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR.

The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

The GFOA is a major professional association that services the needs of nearly 19,000 appointed and elected local, state and provincial-level government officials and other finance practitioners. It provides top quality publications, training programs, services and products designed to enhance the skills and performance of those responsible for government finance policy and management. The association is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, with offices in Washington, D.C.
