TSC surpasses previous enrollment record, reaches 7,132 head count |
The importance of a community college was made loud and clear by the Lower Rio Grande Valley community as Texas Southmost College (TSC) continued its record-breaking enrollment streak by reaching a 7,132 student head count for the fall 2018 semester that began on Aug. 27. TSC's record-breaking enrollment in fall 2018 was a 14.7 percent overall increase from the fall 2017 semester. "It is truly an exciting time to be at Texas Southmost College right now, and we are very pleased with the record-setting enrollment this fall semester," TSC President Jesus Roberto Rodriguez said. "TSC continues to experience growth and has a vibrant campus life bustling with student activities and events. We are continuing to build a college environment that is welcoming and gives a sense of belonging to our students and the community." As a comprehensive community college, TSC offers a variety of educational opportunities to the community that include career and technical education that lead to associate degrees and certificates, transfer of college credits to a university, GED, continuing education and customized workforce training. TSC has expanded online course offerings, and classes are available in the evenings and Saturdays to provide students with the flexibility they need to succeed in the pursuit of their education. "The community realizes the value of a community college in our area and has responded by making TSC their destination of choice in the Lower Rio Grande Valley to pursue their education," Rodriguez said.
